Intro

While Switzerland’s alpine resorts were still welcoming skiers, Ticino had already turned the page to spring. Its palm-lined promenades and mild climate set a welcoming scene for the Wedding Round Table – Ticino Edition, hosted by Switzerland Tourism.

At this two-day event Swiss wedding planners and partner hotels gathered as a community to discuss, elevate and motivate each other. Participants engaged in open discussions about how to grow the wedding segment and plenty of opportunities were given for networking.

We all share the same goal, which is to position Switzerland as a premium wedding destination and offer the one-of-the-kind experience to the wedding couples and their guests.

About the Ticino region

Ticino is the sunniest region in Switzerland. With its beautiful landscapes, mountains, palm trees, lakes and many charming towns and villages, there are plenty of reasons why the southernmost canton of Switzerland is one of the most popular destinations for holidays and excursions.

Direct Experience – Love of detail

Day one
As participants, we could experience first-hand so much love of detail, from individualized stationery and tote bags to local culinary specialities, as well as entertainment including live music and a millefleur dessert demonstration – a rising wedding trend. The dress code Dolce Vita, filled with colours, along with the Mediterranean concept charmed the participants who felt like they stepped into a dream. The atmosphere of the location was amazing and the good vibes yielded many fruitful conversations.

The Delta Beach Lounge offers wedding planners and designers a variety of options to be creative and showcase their talents. The Lounge is like two different worlds – on the inside one finds a cozy lounge, bar, and restaurant where private events with a disco party afterwards could be planned. Whereas the outside area, which also can be booked for exclusive events, offers tons of elegant water fountains, palm trees as well as a great view of Lake Maggiore.

Day two
Ascona belonged to the early birds who conquered the cobble stone alleys on their way to the lake where at 8:30am sharp the boat was ready. Next stop: Isola di Brissago. Within just a 15-minute water ride you enter a botanical world with thousands of species of plants. A palm garden, roman bath, little beach, uncountable hidden spots to discover, including the historical Villa Emden – a wedding location to long for.

Inspirational success story

A highlight coming all the way from England for the event, was special guest Daisy Amodio, founder of the first ever marriage proposal planning company in Europe, «The Proposers.» She shared with the participants how her company became one of the most successful in her niche, from overcoming challenges to dealing with present changes as well as how to stay ahead for the future. The vivid exchange, mixed with real-life examples, created an inspiring environment and a «nothing is impossible» atmosphere.

Panel discussion Is Switzerland – Ticino – the new Lake Como?

The regions of Ascona-Locarno and Lugano have long been among the most romantic wedding destinations in Switzerland, attracting couples from across the country year after year. A Mediterranean climate, refined cuisine, and a rich cultural heritage shaped by Italian influence often prove to be decisive elements when choosing where to say «I do». The convenience of Switzerland’s efficient transport infrastructure makes reaching this southernmost canton smooth and stress-free.

Ticino is a setting where natural beauty, intimacy, and heartfelt moments effortlessly come together.
Samuel Righetti, Ticino Turismo

Why should international couples consider getting married in Switzerland?
«One important part is exclusivity. It is the mix of Italian flair and Swiss perfection», said wedding planner Jenny Oberholzer from Diamonds and Petals. Additionally, Sara Mazzei from Sara Mazzei & Associates Event Creation noted, «The average of quality is outstanding. Service and privacy is very high, something that couples can really appreciate».
And if visitors would love to discover other areas and highlights of Switzerland like the mountains or glaciers, they are just a hop away.

Since last year’s roundtable event, it’s exciting to see projects that were discussed have taken flight, including creating more «togetherness». It’s through a collective effort and support that the continuation of wedding growth in Switzerland is possible. Together we’re strong and can achieve something new which ensures everyone’s future success.

Arrivederci, and hopefully see you soon in Switzerland!
