North-South route Basel-Lugano, 6 days
Overview
The classic Alpine crossing The North-South Route connects two of the most beautiful cities in Switzerland. From the border triangle in Basel, this tour first leads over the Jura mountains to Lucerne. It continues through central Switzerland and over the Gotthard Pass. Then you roll past the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the three castles of Bellinzona and up to Monte Ceneri with a view of Lake Maggiore. In front of you, Lake Lugano sparkles seductively in the sun, palm trees line the path and a touch of Italianità sets in: you have reached the southernmost corner of Switzerland and are rolling comfortably to the border with Italy.
