Intro

Atop the Lötschen Pass (2,690 meters), the crossing from Gastern Valley (Kandersteg) to the Lötschen Valley (Lauchern Alp or Ferden).

Description

The hut received an award as the first energy self-sufficient Alpine accommodation that conforms to the Minergie standard. The new rooms offer 80 beds. Before the construction of the Gemmi Trail, the Lötschen Pass was the most important link between Upper Valais and the Kander Valley. On the north side of the pass, traces of the cobbled mule track from the early Middle Ages are clearly visible.
