Swiss Historic Hotel

Monument of national importance and designated a UNESCO-designated historic restaurant. The workplace of Emmental writer Jeremias Gotthelf, the buildings, which date back to 1752 (the inn), 1806 (the “Kreuz” guesthouse) and 1744 (the fully restored seminar suite, a protected structure) are full of history, hospitality and haute cuisine.

Historic Restaurant of the Year 2000 The origins of the Gasthof Bären in Dürrenroth, Berne date back to the year 1752. The building, which is on the former thoroughfare to Huttwill, is the embodiment of late Baroque style. It features a timber frame faced with tiny wooden shingles and is painted in an olive green reminiscent of stonework.

Our 3 seminar rooms "Toufi-Stube", "Sichlete-Stube" and the Belle Epoque room are located on the second floor of the "Bären" restaurant. State-of-the-art infrastructure, accommodated in various large rooms, ideal for your seminar or your next conference. We offer you the right venue and supporting program. Getting there

Dürrenroth is located in the beautiful Emmental, on the axis Sursee - Willisau - Huttwil. In Huttwil, at the top of the station, take the road to Sumiswald / Burgdorf and follow this road. After the Huttwil-Waldausfahrt turn left, direction Dürrenroth, and after a short climb you will find us shortly after the entrance to the village on the right (directly next to the church). From the A1 motorway, exit Kirchberg, drive through Burgdorf and Sumiswald and generally towards Huttwil along the railway line. Shortly after the left-hand fork in the direction of Walterswil, turn right (signpost Dürrenroth) and cross the rails to reach us in a few hundred meters on the left (next to the church).
