Intro

The magic of the night and the dark side of light

In recent decades, our nights have become ever brighter and there are very few naturally dark rooms left in Switzerland. While the night-time illumination of paths and house entrances ensures safety and security, too much light has negative consequences for people, animals and plants. The exhibition at the Regional Museum shows how artificial light has changed people's everyday lives and how nocturnal animals react to light emissions. It provides tips on how light pollution can be reduced and invites visitors on a nocturnal journey through the Upper Valais with pictures by regional amateur photographers.
