This autumn, the SOKS is presenting a highly romantic "B & B" with the supposed antipodes Brahms and Bruckner - the former as a classicist following in the footsteps of Haydn and Beethoven, Bruckner as a "New German" in the Wagner-Liszt series - although the two are more similar in many ways than music critics were willing to admit at the time. As soloists, we once again welcome the great Altendorf violin talent Raphael Nussbaumer, now a student at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin, together with our Schwyz solo cellist Severin Suteri: they play Brahms' famous, rarely performed double concerto. The second part of the concert features monumental late Romantic music like a cathedral: Bruckner's symphonic first work in C minor in the earlier Linz version!
