The Lake Schwarzsee Cattle Descent
After spending four months in the mountains, the Alpine herdsmen and their cattle return to the lower regions. A festive cattle descent also takes place in Plaffeien.
The Lake Schwarzsee Cattle Descent is a big folk festival with over 700 colorfully decorated animals and a market with diverse crafts and culinary delicacies. This occasion has great significance for the Alpine cattle farmers since it revives a tradition that was forgotten for some time. Through a festive procession the Alpine inhabitants are shown respect and esteem for their tireless work.
