Intro

On the shores of Lake Geneva stands the three-metre-high bronze statue of Freddie Mercury. You can see the late Queen singer in his legendary pose from the Wembley concert in 1986 – with a microphone and a raised fist.

The Freddie Mercury statue at a glance

The bronze statue of Czech sculptor Irena Sedlecká was unveiled in 1996 and stands on the Place du Marché directly on the lakeside promenade. Freddie Mercury lived in Montreux for a time and recorded seven albums with Queen here, including "Made in Heaven". Fans from all over the world lay flowers, letters and photos on the pedestal.
