Since 1648, when it was completed, Freuler Palace has been most famous building in Canton Glarus. Freuler Palace has housed the Glarus Regional Museum since 1946. The museum boasts numerous fascinating exhibitions and interesting museums.
The department dedicated to the cantonal past showcases history dating back to the first settlements in this region. The textile museum deals in depth with what was for a long time the canton’s most important branch of industry. The Military Museum presents a spectrum of topics, ranging from the foreign legion to Glarus Battalion 85. The Ski Sports Museum showcases the pioneering role of the Glarus Region in ski sports.
