Museum Prestegg
Overview
Intro
The Prestegg makes history and culture an experience beyond the Rhine Valley.
Since its reopening in 2021, the Prestegg Museum has been part of the Rhine Valley Center for History and Culture. The building has been a listed building since 1972 and houses one of the oldest museum collections in the region. Semi-permanent exhibitions are presented in the rooms of this historic building. A permanent exhibition, which focuses on various areas of everyday life, is currently under construction.
Once a medieval town house, residence of the Rhine Valley reformer Vogler, then the stately home of the important textile trading family Custer, brewery and restaurant, the Prestegg is now a regional museum for the Rhine Valley. Changing special exhibitions and smaller public events complete the offer. Families, younger visitors and school classes, for whom an educational program is currently being developed, are particularly welcome.
