From the musical box village of Ste-Croix in the Vaud Jura, past Balcon du Jura and on to Val de Travers.
Description
The first day of this hike starts in Ste-Croix and heads via Les Praises in the direction of Chasseron. The route passes by two mountain inns, before proceeding along the panoramic ridge. A little further up the mountain lies the erratic “Pierre de la Paix” – it’s worth sitting atop this boulder for a brief while to sense the positive energy field it emits.
After a leisurely walk of seven kilometres across the Jura peaks, you will reach the entrance to the narrow Pouetta Raisse Gorge. The descent follows a wet path secured with chains and via steps in places. The slightly longer route via the castle into Val de Travers and on to Môtiers with its absinthe museum is highly recommended.
Walkers can also opt to watch the sun go down on the Chasseron and spend the night there – a truly unforgettable experience. Overnighting at the Hôtel du Chasseron is the perfect way to split this rather long trail into a comfortable two-day hike.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
