Burggeist-Gschwänd-Schlittelweg
Overview
Intro
This scenic sledging run from Rigi Burggeist offers guaranteed fun off the beaten track. Passing over a sun terrace on the southern slope of the Rigi down to Gschwend above Gersau, tobogganers are treated to a panoramic view of Lake Lucerne along the way.
Description
From its sun terrace above Gersau, Rigi Burggeist enjoys a far-reaching view of the Alps and the surrounding lakes. Avid sledgers start at 1,551 metres above sea level, which is above the clouds on overcast days. The steepest or – some might say – the most exciting sections are at the very beginning. As the run approaches the Gätterli Pass, it becomes smoother and flatter, allowing more time to soak up the natural scenery with Lake Lucerne far below.
Sledgers glide through a series of small woodland sections before reaching the bottom in Gschwend. From there, a comfortable ten-minute ride on the Obergschwend-Rigi Burggeist cable car will take you back up to Rigi Burggeist, where you can either start another thrilling run or bask in the sun on the mountain restaurant's terrace.
