Weltcup-Loipe Davos Nordic
Overview
Intro
Cross-country skiing on the FIS racing trails in the Flüela Valley, where Dario Cologna and his fellow skiers have already competed for World Cup points. The highlight of the racing trail is the famous «Cologna-Stutz», named after Switzerland’s most successful cross-country skier.
Description
The world's elite cross-country skiers stand on the starting line of the Davos Nordic every year. However, this racing trail is also popular among amateur athletes. The starting point of the World Cup cross-country ski trail is the Bünda area in Davos Dorf. The trail leads from here along the forest and across the Flüela river to the other side of the valley.
It passes the Adventure Park Färich (a rope-climbing & bike park in summer), then ascends on the section that includes the famous «Cologna-Stutz», named after Switzerland’s most successful cross-country skier of all time and elective native of Davos. With a length of 236 metres, the steepest climb on the route is a real challenge for many.
The trail reaches its highest point at the little hamlet of Waldji, where it then turns and runs parallel to the ascent for a few metres before bending to the left, once again crossing the Flüela river. From here, it's a sprint along the river for around 1.5 km as far as the settlement of Oberhöfji, with the final kilometre also leading gently downhill and back to the starting point of the lap.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
