Giova
Overview
Intro
This wonderful bike tour starts in Roveredo. After a short flat stretch you climb through a magnificent forest towards Giova. The downhill runs towards Buseno and then from Castaneda to Grono are challenging, but with a wonderful panorama.
Description
The journey begins at the piazza of the town of Roveredo. From there you ride on the east side of the Moesa river in the direction of Bellinzona. At the top of S. Vittore you change sides to the other side of the valley. The steep and winding road to Giova and Monti di San Carlo leads through a magnificent forest. In Giova, the futuristic Chapel of the Madonna di Fatima is worth a visit. The challenging descent in the direction of the Buseno Reservoir begins on the Monti di S. Carlo. You get to Castaneda by a dirt road but without any great difficulty. The last downhill run ends about 400 meters deeper, in Grono, where you cross the Moesa again. You bike back along the river to Roveredo and let the day come to a close on the piazza.
