Langis Bike
Overview
Intro
This is an idyllic bike tour leading from Sarnen to the high moorland of Langis. As you ride past bubbling brooks and through lush forests, you’ll regularly find unexpected vistas featuring mountains located in central Switzerland and Bern.
Description
North of Sarnen, past the two-story beehive and Heiligkreuz Chapel, you can see the village of Sarnen and the prominent start of the Melch Valley. From the next forest clearing you can see Lake Alpnach, Mount Rigi and Mount Mythen to the north. Exotic alpine flora greets you shortly before you reach Mount Liebäfang, where you can refill your water bottle with fresh mountain spring water.
A rather steep concrete road leads up to «Schneeloch» (snow-hole) and turns into a less demanding forest road. A little black lake glimmers to the left; it’s called the «Schwander Schluochtseeli». A new path makes it easy to cross the quiet moorland. Suddenly, a powerful panorama stuns with its view of the eternal ice on mounts Titlis, Finsteraarhorn, Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
