Intro
Andermatt – the mainly winter sport destination also offers sports fanatics a range of possibilities in summer. This tour leads you through alpine meadows and past historic military sites to the picturesque lake Lutersee.
Description
The tour starts in Andermatt at the tourist information office. Follow the Oberalp-Pass road via Obergadmen to Nätschen. Here you branch off north on a freight road followed by a well developed nature trail that steadily inclines and leads you through alpine meadows strewn with rocks. Along the route you discover many left over military buildings from the cold war, which are reminders of the turbulent past. Up at Stöckli you could have a first rest. Gaze across the Ursern valley and enjoy the view into the valley and also of the rotating wind turbines in the background, which are eye-catchingly situated up on Gütsch.
The last part of the route leads you along the old military road with an easy climb past the lake Lutersee to Platten, the actual destination of your tour. If you don't mind cold water then enjoy a refreshing dip in the crystal clear mountain lake. The route back goes along the same roads as on the way up - all the way back to Andermatt, where the cosy restaurants and cafés invite you to have a well deserved rest.
