Nätschen Run
Overview
Intro
Zoom down the sunny slopes on your toboggan at Andermatt as you enjoy the view over the romantic Ursern Valley – in the winter months, the adrenaline flows freely on the snow-covered and scenic Oberalp Pass road.
Description
From Andermatt, the main village in the Ursern Valley, tobogganers take the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway or the modern 8-person gondola lift up to the Nätschen station. As soon as you reach the top it is time for the real fun to begin, for in the winter the Oberalp Pass road serves as a high-speed downhill run. Tobogganers, skiers, snowboarders and winter hikers alike all use this route as they make their way to Andermatt.
Because the traffic over the pass uses this route in summer, the toboggan run makes a gentle descent through numerous, sweeping curves. Its consistent gradient makes it suitable for the whole family. Along the way you have the opportunity to enjoy the views down into the Ursern Valley. Amongst other peaks, the Gemstock, the Pazolastock and the Schijenstock can be admired.
Located at about the halfway point, the Himalaya Bar is a good place to take a break. Relax in a lounger while soaking up the sweeping views over the majestic Uri mountains. With a bit of luck you might even spot some yaks.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
