Prätschli-Eichhörnliweg
Overview
Intro
The route offers a wonderful panoramic view of the opposite side of the valley from Schanfigg and leads back to Arosa via the forest of the squirrel trail. The fluffy little animals are easy to attract, observe and feed with a few nuts and a little patience.
Description
From Arosa railway station, the bus takes you to Prätschli terminus. From there, the first part of the route, which is positioned above the tree line, leads to Maran with an impressive mountain panorama view. If the first part of the path is too steep and stony for you, you can follow the Prätschliweg (starts to the left of the Prätschli-Stall restaurant) and you will rejoin the original route before Maran.
From Maran on, the path leads into the forest and soon the first squirrels will greet you. These cute little animals and also the birds are quite trusting. They like to be watched and to get fed with some nuts directly from your hand. The route winds along a little streamlet into the valley. There are resting places everywhere in the forest and two cozy barbecue areas invite you to linger.
On the way back to the village, a beautiful view of the Obersee opens up and perhaps the Weisshorn cable car will hover silently above us. A footpath passes the first houses to go back to the station.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
