Schlittelweg Bivio
Overview
Intro
Tobogganing of a different kind: The ski lift pulls the tobogganists on the «Pistenbock» up the steep lift route to the mid-station Camon. The more than two kilometres back to Bivio are curvy and fast. Only the views across the landscape to the Julier Pass are tempting to have stopover every now and then.
Description
The way to the start is already a highlight: Sitting on the «Pistenbock», the ski lift will transport you from Bivio to the mid-station Camon. The «Pistenbock»has special fixtures for transport with the ski lift. At first, it all requires some concentration going up on the steep lift route – however, no reason for concern, the device is reliable. If one prefers to trust his own sledge, there is the winter hiking trail to the station Camon; however, one needs to take a good 1.5-hour walk into consideration.
Either way: On arrival and before starting the descent, the large sun terrace of the mountain restaurant Camon invites to a stopover with refreshments with its impressive mountain panorama views. About 50 meters next to the mountain station and across the treeless mountain ridge, the sporty tobogganing fun has its starting point. The descent is fast and curvy, the «Pistenbock» is steered with the feet and slowed down with the emergency brake. The tobogganing route leads directly back to the ski lift Camon to keep the tobogganing fun going for as long as possible.
If one eventually had enough, one may want to visit the idyllic Bivio. Remarkable here: The different languages one hears in the village at the foot of the two alpine passes Julier and Septimer. No less than seven languages, dialects and patois are spoken in Bivio (standard German and «Bündnerdeutsch», Italian and Bargaiot, Surmiran, Putèr and Bivio-Romanic). The village is considered to be the one with the largest language variety in Switzerland.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
