Exploring the pre-Alpine landscape on cross-country skiing trails – this is promised by the trail over four Alps. At the same time a wonderful panoramic view over Sarganserland can be enjoyed.
Description
Cross-country skiing means not necessarily always a circular trail: on the trail from Tannenbodenalp over Prodalp and Panüöl to Alp Fursch – partially alone on broad meadows – impressive landscapes with a view to Sarganserland can be explored.
The start of the trail is located at restaurant Sennenstube at Tannenbodenalp. First it goes along the plateau Madils and increases then softly over the moor landscape Prodriet. The sunrays can be easily enjoyed on the south-facing trail, as thanks to the height between 1,400 and 1,800 metres the sun is not melting the snow that quickly. From Prodalp to Panüöl the trail is getting more sophisticated, whereas the course on the flanks of the hills offer a wonderful panoramic view to Sarganserland. On Panüöl the touring region of “Spitzmeilenarena” is located. The cross-country skier gets past the timber line and enjoys the Alpine flair on the now flat and finally slightly declining last section to Alp Fursch.
The technically rather easy trail is defined as moderately difficult to difficult due to its continuous incline. Now and then there are hikers, as a winter walking trail also runs through the cross-country ski trail. On the way different restaurants offer to linger for a while.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
