Wolfgang Trail
Overview
Intro
Hiking through the deep snow and revelling in the winter sun. The trail starts on Wolfgang Pass and leads through picturesque Arelenwald. Surrounded by pine trees you enjoy fantastic views across the valley. Return via Ober Laret to the top of the pass where the tour ends.
Description
The starting point of the Wolfgang trail is on the pass of the same name. In 1890 the Landquart-Davos railway, the predecessor of the Rhaetian Railway, crossed the 1630-meter pass for the first time on its way to Davos. The top of the pass is a popular destination for cross-country ski tours, and winter or snowshoe hiking.
First the trail gently climbs up into the gorgeous Arelenwald, a picturesque pine forest with amazing views across the valley. The trail then levels out and continues mostly straight ahead in the midst of a beautiful landscape. Before Schwendihütte you cross the ski slope leading from Parsenn to Wolfgang Pass. After the hut, the trail continues to Stützbach and down to below Büdemji via two sweeping curves.
Now the trail turns off in the direction of Wolfgang. The second part of the loop tour continues below Arelenwald between the cross-country ski trails and gently climbs back up to the starting point on Wolfgang Pass. The snowshoe tour is suitable for families and can be completed in either direction.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
