"Senses Trail" - Direct contact with Nature
Overview
Intro
The idea behind the "Senses Trail" is that nature should be felt, touched, tasted, smelled, heard, and seen, and learning about it should be fun.
Begin the adventure at the "Maisons de la fôret", where there are explanatory signs explaining about the Senses Trail and giving general information about healing herbs, bee-keeping, and the local wildlife.
Birdsong accompanies hikers starting out on the Senses Trail which begins along the Saxon irrigation channel. On the way, there are all sorts of activities: touching the forest ground, smelling Swiss pine bark, guessing which birds you can hear. Children and adults alike will enjoy trying to identify the various flowers and trees by smell or by touch. Signs are also in braille so that blind hikers may benefit from this trail.
How to get there:
Drive or take public transport from Sion to Mayens-de-Riddes via Riddes.
