Intro

From tourism, for tourism – that's the Swisstainable programme. The Swiss Sustainability Programme is committed to the sustainable development of Switzerland as a tourist destination. It offers guests orientation and transparency so that they can more easily discover businesses with a commitment to sustainability and find their way through the jungle of labels. At the same time, Swisstainable is a movement for the entire industry.

Companies and organisations along the entire tourism value chain are part of Swisstainable and meet clearly defined criteria. In order to take into account the different prerequisites and the different level of commitment, the programme is divided into three levels.

  • Level I – committed Level I – committed companies are committed to sustainable corporate management and are continuously developing their operations in line with sustainability principles.
  • Level II – engaged Level II – engaged companies are committed to sustainable corporate management and ongoing development in the area of sustainability. These companies also have recognized certification at this level in at least one sustainability dimension.
  • Level III – leading Level III – leading companies have comprehensive, recognized sustainability credentials covering all aspects of sustainability, which are regularly reviewed by an external body.

Detailed information on the requirements of Swisstainable can be found at the Swisstainable office of the Swiss Tourism Federation.
