Five passes – Four cantons – Three languages Experiencing the Gotthard region is a must, as much of what defines Switzerland is concentrated in a very small area here. Cultural and linguistic boundaries change within just a few kilometres of each other. The slate church steeples point the way to Ticino and you can look forward to lush Alpine meadows and sun-- browned mountain houses in Goms. Then it’s high over the pass as you press further into the Romansh-speaking Surselva, followed by one final ascent and back to Ticino. The temperatures rise, that unmistakeable melody of the Italian language rings out all around you and palm trees sway gently in the breeze. This is one of the most diverse bike tours in our programme.
