Located in the heart of the Zurich Oberland, the Bäretswil-Maiwinkel cross-country ski trail leads over undulated terrain and offers outstanding natural beauty. The region is a popular local recreation area as it is known to have little fog and is easily accessible.
Beschrijving
The Bäretswil-Maiwinkel cross-country ski trail is idyllically located at about 800 metres above sea level in a pre-Alpine undulated terrain, elevated between the Glatt and the Töss Valley. The local recreation area in the heart of the Zurich Oberland is highly appreciated by its visitors. The cross-country ski trail is located in close proximity to the cities of Wetzikon and Uster and is well-known for long hours of sunshine and little foggy periods.
Eleven kilometres of trails for classic or skate skiing at Bäretswil-Maiwinkel lead over undulated terrain. For decades, volunteers have groomed and maintained the trails; since 2008 an interest group has assumed the task.
The trail offers different access points; a parking lot is located in Wappenswil (at the junction). From Bäretswil you must turn on the main road in front of the Werkhof in direction of Wappenswil. After a couple of minutes, you will already spot the cross-country ski trail.
De sleutel voor een prettige wandeltocht is onder andere een zorgvuldige planning. Win op voorhand inlichtingen in bij de plaatselijke informatiedienst over de toestand van het traject en de weersomstandigheden. Afhankelijk van het seizoen en de weersomstandigheden kan de route gesloten of onderbroken zijn.
