Inleiding
A baroque abbey, the delightful landscape of Lake Sihl, the Schwyz mountains and the peaceful Schwantenau moor – the Schwedentritt half-marathon trail demands a huge effort from skiers, but also rewards them with magnificent views.
Beschrijving
This circuit for ambitious athletes begins right next to Einsiedeln Abbey, on top of the Brüel underground car park. After a few kilometres it reaches Lake Sihl, Switzerland's largest reservoir, with a panoramic view of the Schwyz mountains beyond. Skiers first follow the upper part of the lake, then pass through the Roblosen moorland. After the climb towards the Galgenchappeli, they can see Lake Sihl from another angle, surrounded by the Ybrig mountains.
The descent that follows takes them into the Schwantenau moor. The trail winds its way in a large loop through the nature reserve, reminiscent of Sweden with its birches and deep carpet of snow. Once the second climb to the Galgenchappeli is over, skiers see their destination in the distance: Einsiedeln Abbey. But before they reach the finish line, they still have to cover an easy gliding section and some moderate slopes in the slightly hilly terrain.
De sleutel voor een prettige wandeltocht is onder andere een zorgvuldige planning. Win op voorhand inlichtingen in bij de plaatselijke informatiedienst over de toestand van het traject en de weersomstandigheden. Afhankelijk van het seizoen en de weersomstandigheden kan de route gesloten of onderbroken zijn.
