The Tightrope
The theme of equilibrium is one of the core elements of Paul Klee's theory of art, as a doctrine of movement. According to his fundamental thinking, things appear to be static and fixed – but in reality they are in a state of constant movement. A figure from the world of theatre and music hall is used as a metaphor for Klee's interest in the process of balance: the tightrope walker.
