Clowns & Acrobates

Passionate about the circus and black-and-white photography, the two brothers have been accompanying circus companies on their tours across the country for several years. Many companies carry on the art of the circus. The history of these circuses is that of family-run institutions with a rich, long-standing heritage, most of which continue the tradition of traveling from place to place. As part of a long-term project, Serge and Michel Kliaving accompany these circuses on their tours across the country. This immersion allows them to forge close bonds with the troupes and artists, whom they photograph on stage, during rehearsals, and behind the scenes. Whether on stage, in rehearsals, or behind the scenes, their lens focuses on the artists, their movements, the characters, and the moments surrounding the performance.Their approach is not merely artistic; it also aims to highlight, in their own way, this world that fascinates them. Their photographic work also includes posters reminiscent of street photography, a practice they are developing in parallel. Opening reception: Thursday, October 1, starting at 6:00 p.m.
