Introdução

Marianne Bataillard and Mr. Siro Vierin's students

Marianne Bataillard, Wildlife Illustrator. Born in Lausanne, Marianne Bataillard is a graduate of the École Cantonale des Beaux-Arts. Her professional life has constantly oscillated between her passion for drawing and her work as a freelance graphic designer and museum curator. Fascinated by nature and the great outdoors, it was initially the mineral world and her travels to distant lands that inspired her to create real or imaginary landscapes, expressed in works that always hover on the edge of abstraction. Now a resident of Valais by choice, living in Les Granges-sur-Salvan, she is able to observe the abundant wildlife of the Trient Valley and immerse herself in a natural world that enchants her and fuels both her dreams and her work. Quite naturally, a shift in direction has taken place, and her passion for figurative drawing has caught up with her: she now devotes herself to the animal kingdom. Whether sketching from life or creating illustrations in her studio, she never tires of capturing life on paper. “I love to draw; I love hearing the pencil rustle across the texture of the paper. I love letting my hand take me on a journey. I love seeing life come to life on the blank page... ”She has now chosen to exhibit some fifty animal illustrations on paper at the Galerie des Combles, created on backgrounds of colored ink—applied spontaneously without brushes—and then enhanced with drawings in India ink and colored pencil. Mr. Siro Vierin’s StudentsUnder the auspices of the Entremont Adult Education Center, Mr. Siro Vierin of Saint-Oyen in the Aosta Valley has been teaching woodcarving for over 25 years. Several enthusiasts from Bagnes, Bovernier, Bourg-St-Pierre, Liddes, Orsières, Vollèges, and Verbier follow with great attention the expert advice of the Aosta Valley’s finest woodcarver, who has been nominated multiple times at the St-Ours fairs. For this exhibition at La Belle Toile, Audrey Bruchez, her father Eric Bruchez, Catherine Vaudan, Clairmonde Vaudan, and Serge Gabioud present their works, created under the guidance of their Maestro.
