Today, the Stockalperweg leads through the 350-meter-long connecting tunnel. You can admire the rooms in the bunker with the cannon, soldiers' room, troop accommodation, central gallery, officers' room and kitchen on a tour with one of our knowledgeable guides. In the soldiers' quarters, plans, photos, models and objects are used to explain the fortress museum and the history of the military presence on the Simplon.
Did you know that the Simplon Adler was built from the stones that were removed when the fort was blown up? Our guides will tell you more exciting stories about the border occupation at the Simplon.

Meeting point: North entrance to the fortress (Simplon village side entrance)
Payment: cash on site
Private guided tours for groups: On request, Fort Gondo also opens its doors to groups outside the regular Saturday tours (from June to October).
Public transport: If you arrive by post bus, there are post bus stops to the north and south of the fortress (Simplon Dorf, Alte Kaserne or Gondo, Ramserna). Either option will take you about 40 to 60 minutes to walk to the fortress.
We recommend combining your visit with a hike on the Stockalper Trail.
How to get there: Fort Gondo can be reached by private car or post bus from Brig or Iselle.
There are a few parking spaces at the north entrance (access is very difficult due to roadworks).
