Exciting insights into the hidden world of bats

Use of modern technology to make bat calls audible

Exploration of the Giessenpark at dusk

An experienced Swiss Ranger will take you on an exciting excursion (in German) to Giessen Park, where an above-average number of bat species live side by side. As we stroll through the park landscape in the evening, you will learn why bats are the only mammals that can actively fly - and with impressive precision. We make their ultrasonic calls audible to us and learn how the species can be distinguished by their calls.

With a bit of luck, we will discover rare species such as the alpine bat or observe the water bat hunting mosquitoes. You will also learn exciting facts about the secret lives of these fascinating animals - from their unique flight maneuvers to their still mysterious hibernation sites.
