«Wolverines» | Wolverines

There are all sorts of jazz bands: those that play from sheet music and those that make music. The Wolverines belong to the latter category. With their music, driven by a joy of playing and spontaneity, they know how to thrill an audience. Their art comes from the heart, and has done so for more than 60 years.

What lies behind this astonishing staying power? Anyone who sees the band perform live on stage won’t need to think twice. A glance and a close listen are enough to realise: the seven musicians are not simply a conglomeration of like-minded individuals who happen to share the same hobby. No, they operate as a close-knit team whose cohesion is based, on the one hand, on their personal friendships with one another and, on the other, on their love of traditional jazz.

Markus Hächler (trumpet/vocals), Martin Sterchi (clarinet/alto saxophone), Rudolf Knöpfel (trombone), Dirk Raufeisen (piano), Walter Sterchi (bass/guitar), Jimmy Wettach (bass/tuba), Hans Brunner (drums/woodwinds)
