"Gerda, Kernex, Sibir" Practical household appliances
概览
简介
Today, people cook, wash, prepare, mix, shave and communicate at the touch of a button.
It is hard to imagine what groundbreaking achievements the washing machine, fridge, iron and vacuum cleaner once were. Household appliances, which we take for granted today, have changed our everyday lives forever. Whether mechanical or electrical, these modern-day miracle machines enabled housewives to perform their tasks with ease and elegance.
The exhibition presents a wide range of household appliances from the museum's own collection: from kitchen appliances to aids for home, laundry and personal hygiene to entertainment electronics. Posters and photos from the 1940s to 1970s show the increasing importance of household technology. Works by Roman Signer and Hans Schweizer complement the exhibition with an artistic look at irons and pressure cookers.
