From January 21 to June 21, 2026, the Musée des Sciences de la Terre will host Michel Favre's "Sculptures" exhibition.
The exhibition invites visitors to discover the singular universe of Michel Favre, an artist whose style is immediately recognizable. His sculptures feature tiny bronze figures confronted by oversized objects, creating a poetic dialogue between human fragility and monumentality. In his compositions, pure forms and hollowed-out volumes reflect a constant search for balance and lightness.
Patinated bronze, sometimes combined with sheet metal, glass or stone, enables him to play on contrasts of material and meaning. These Lilliputian figures, which appeared early on in his career, give his work a strong, immediately identifiable identity.
Born in Lausanne and raised in Martigny, Michel Favre trained as a marble carver before studying art in Berne and St. Gallen. Established as a freelance artist since 1972, he exhibits regularly in Switzerland and abroad.
This exhibition pays tribute to a creator whose sensitivity, rigor and sense of mise-en-scène continue to captivate a wide audience.
