Sammlung Gegenwart
Das Kunstmuseum Basel zeigt im gesamten Haus Gegenwart über 80 Werke aus den Beständen der eigenen Sammlung, der Sammlung der Emanuel Hoffmann-Stiftung und des Kunstkredits Basel-Stadt in ausgesuchten Konstellationen. Die Objekte, Gemälde, Fotografien, Videos, Installationen und Performances entstanden mehrheitlich in den letzten 50 Jahren und werden nun in Offene Beziehung zueinander gesetzt. Manche von ihnen wurden speziell für das Gebäude am St. Alban-Rheinweg geschaffen, andere haben dort ihre Premiere gefeiert, wurden schon lange nicht mehr oder noch gar nie im Kunstmuseum ausgestellt.
