"TaDA Talk"
概览
简介
Design and Art with Bio-Based Materials: Then and Now. A discussion on developments in textiles with experts from various disciplines. Followed by a reception. In collaboration with TaDA
Schaffhausen’s textile history is closely linked to natural fibers. In the pre-industrial era, flax, hemp, and sheep’s wool were primarily processed through home-based work. In Switzerland’s first worsted spinning mill, sheep’s wool was spun into high-quality yarns—after which there was an increasing focus on functional and technical fabrics. How do natural and synthetic materials relate to one another today in the fields of art, design, and architecture—and the environment?
Featuring:
Alix Arto, multidisciplinary designer, Switzerland, TaDA Resident
Ľudmila Bubánová, textile artist and scenographer, Slovakia, TaDA Resident
Rita Hasani, fashion designer, Kosovo, TaDA Resident
Sarah Merten, curator of contemporary art, Museum Allerheiligen, Schaffhausen
Moderator: Marianne Burki, Director of TaDA
As part of the “TaDA Talks” series, the respective residents discuss current issues related to sustainability and textile design with experts from various disciplines.
TaDA – Textile and Design Alliance is a cultural funding program launched in 2020 by the cantons of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Thurgau, and St. Gallen. TaDA facilitates experimental engagement with the textile culture of Eastern Switzerland and contemporary textile production. Each year, following a call for applications, six national and international residents are awarded a residency to develop projects in art, design, and other disciplines. Regional textile and design companies provide them with expertise and technologies and, in turn, benefit from the creative exchange. The results are also made accessible to the public through events.
Since 2026, TaDA has been funded by KBK Ost (Conference of Cantonal Cultural Representatives of Eastern Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein). TaDA organizes its events on a nomadic basis in collaboration with various cultural organizations.
