MidnightSports Zug
Overview
Intro
MidnightSports offers free sports and recreational activities for young people on Saturday evenings with no registration required. The focus is on physical activity, social interaction, participation, and fun.
Our Midnight Sports projects offer young people a free, youth-friendly space on Saturday evenings where they can play sports, have fun, and meet friends.
What
Idée-Sport opens sports halls on Saturday evenings during the school year and offers a free space for physical activity and socializing. Young people can attend the events without registering. The focus is on the joy of physical activity and shared experiences, free from any pressure to perform. At around 100 Midnight Sports locations across Switzerland, more than 2,200 events take place each year, attended by over 90,000 young people.
Who is it for & what is the purpose?
High school students use this space in their free time for physical activity and social interaction and actively help shape it, developing social and personal skills outside of school.
How
The events are organized by young people for young people. The approximately 2,500 young coaches at Idée-Sport are supported and guided in this by young adults—the project leaders. The events are participatory: participants and coaches have a say in how they are organized. As part of the project group, key figures from the community and experts from the region ensure that the programs are firmly rooted in the local community.
Why
Young people need a free weekend recreation program that offers youth-appropriate space for participation, enables a variety of physical and social activities, promotes equal opportunities, and reduces inequalities.
