Bettmerhorn Enduro
Overview
Intro
A technical and scenically thrilling high Alpine trail in the Aletsch Arena, starting at more than 2,600 metres elevation: alternating rock plates, flow, forest and meadows. Along the trail, you can take a break at Bettmeralp, as the 1,900 metres of downward elevation are in a class of their own.
Description
The Bettmerhorn Enduro Trail starts directly at the Bettmerhorn mountain station, the highest point in the biking area of the Aletsch Arena. A tip before the drop in: It’s only around five minutes to the viewing platform, which offers a magnificent view of the glacier.
Then you’re off – and it’s steep, rocky and wild. Directly above the ski slope, the trail winds towards Hohbalm, then straight along the ridgeway to the turnoff to Biel. Via the Aletsch Piste and the Bettmersee lake, you finally arrive at the village of Bettmeralp. In the summer, it’s worth stopping at the lake, or there are shops and various options for taking a break in the car-free village.
The Cultural Trail, a historic path, starts below Bettmeralp. This section is steep, narrow and challenging; line choice is important from here at the latest.
After Betten, a little calm is restored: While the trail is still stony, it is more flowy until you reach surfaced road shortly before Mörel. From here, you travel back by rail – the next ride on one of the Aletsch Enduro Trails already awaits.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
