Radons Bike
Overview
Intro
The «Capricorn Tour» is a medium to difficult level tour with great variety in the Val Nandro - a side valley of Surses. The highlights of this tour are the high plain of Radons as well as Somtgant at 2112 metres.
Description
The start is the parking area of Savognin's cable car. An impressive sight follows shortly after heading out: the baroque church Son Martegn which dominates the village. A particular highlight is the painting of the ceiling inside. A forest road leads to the Parseiras Alpine huts. The trail along Val Nandro valley, which is easy to navigate, continues through the forest in the direction of Radons. A tip for those who are biking here in the autumn: keep your ears peeled. During the rutting season you can hear the deer bellowing around here.
Past the Punt Pajer bridge toward Alp Curtegns the trail curves around to get to the village of Radons situated on a plateau. This is part of the municipality of Riom-Parsonz. On the themed path Alpine Life Somtgant-Radons the trail climbs up to Alp Naladas, the highest point of the entire tour. Various information panels along the way provide insight into the exciting work and life on an alp. Those with extra energy can add another loop: continue further uphill to the Crap Farreras viewpoint or to the Somtgant Alpine restaurant.
The trail described here leads directly down to Tigia where it turns. It continues out of the valley, first along the edge of the forest, then across meadows, and reaches the hamlet of Malmigiucr. A little later, after another turn to Fotgs, the trail is followed to the bridge across the Ava da Nandro River, later called Schletg when it joins the Julia River. You now head briefly upwards again before descending along the Parnoz Trail to Savognin. The trail has a uniquely flowing character, with wide bends and wooden elements. It is also suitable for beginners and families.
An enjoyable tour includes the careful planning of the same. Please inform yourself in advance at the local information center about the route and weather conditions. Depending on the season and weather conditions, this route may be blocked or interrupted
