Prerequisites
Experience using alpine equipment such as ice axes and walking in a rope team is required for this tour. You should also be able to skillfully navigate more challenging sections involving ice, firn, and scree. Additionally, you’ll need the stamina for a ten-hour alpine hike.
Day 1: Walking time without breaks approx. 4.5 hours, elevation gain 800 meters
Together, you’ll travel from Glarus to Linthal. After an ascent of about four and a half hours, you’ll reach the rustic Fridolinshütte. In the evening light, the steep rock faces of the Selbsanft appear even more impressive. You can wind down the evening in a cozy atmosphere at the regulars’ table of the Glarnerland Alpine School.
Day 2: Walking time without breaks approx. 10 hours, ascent 1,600 meters, descent 2,400 meters
After a short night at the hut, you’ll set off early. Following the winter route across the glacier terminations, you’ll reach the summit of the Tödi (3,614 m above sea level) after about 5 hours. You’ll be rewarded with an incredible panoramic view. You’ll descend back to the hut via the same route. After a rest to recover, you’ll continue down to Hintersand, where you’ll take a taxi back to Linthal. From there, you’ll take the Alpine School bus back to Glarus.

We’ll meet at 9:00 a.m. at the starting point of the Glarnerland Alpine School at Tödi Sport, Hauptstrasse 41 in Glarus. If you need to rent equipment or have reserved it, please arrive 30 minutes early to pick it up on site.
