The St. Beatus Caves at a glance
The St. Beatus Caves are among the largest accessible caves in Switzerland. They are spectacularly located above Lake Thun. Around one kilometre of the gigantic cave system is accessible and magically illuminated. The temperature in the mountain is eight to ten degrees Celsius with high humidity. The cave path is not barrier-free.
What to experience
The St. Discover Beatus Caves (1 hour)
You enter the cave world and follow the well-developed circular path. It leads you over 297 steps to grottos with huge stalactite formations and past gorges and waterfalls. Information boards enrich your cave tour. They tell the legend of Saint Beatus, who is said to have driven away a dragon here centuries ago.

The Cave Museum is an ideal starting point for discovering St. Beatus Caves. How is such a gigantic cave system formed and when was it discovered?
