Intro

The museum for the Kappelerhof power station is located directly on the Limmat River. The museum is dedicated to the theme of electricity generation.

The museum houses a wide range of historical items and equipment from power plants, industry and private households that demonstrate how electricity was generated, transported and consumed in past times. Hence, even those with limited technical knowledge will find plenty to interest them here. The centerpiece of the collection is a complete group of historical machinery. The dry chamber for the turbine used in 1918, the impressive wooden gear, and the 1925 generator all illustrate how hydro power was generated in the past. The various types of energy production are also clearly depicted in the museum’s new video and demo area.
