The Christmas Event in Thun marks the start of one of the most beautiful times of the year. The festively decorated town center, the scent of fir branches and mulled wine, the twinkling of countless lights - all this awaits visitors to Thun in the run-up to Christmas. The Christmas Event is much more than just an event: it is the official and festive start to the Advent season and invites young and old to experience the magic of Christmas together.
A special highlight: the illumination of the Christmas tree lights
At 7 p.m. sharp, people gather on Rathausplatz, full of anticipation for the big moment: St. Nicholas symbolically turns the key together with the President of THUNcity and the Mayor, and the imposing Christmas tree shines in festive splendor.
The decoration of the tree is a true work of art: over several days, the silver fir was decorated with much love and dedication by Margrit Bieri, owner of Schlossgarten kreative Floristik GmbH, and with the support of Franziska Stähli. This year's motto "Santa Claus" is reflected in the festive shades of red and green. Decorative elements such as a Santa Claus, a reindeer and mistletoe branches create a festive and traditional atmosphere.
A feast for the senses
The Christmas event in Thun is more than just the lighting of a tree. It marks the start of the Christmas illuminations throughout the city center and kicks off the Advent sales. The festively decorated stores invite you to stroll around, there are magical gift ideas to be discovered everywhere and the Christmas spirit can be felt in every alleyway. The soft glow of the fairy lights, the sound of Christmas music and the cheerful babble of voices create an atmosphere that makes hearts beat faster.
