Intro

Masterpieces on paper from Albrecht Dürer to Dieter Roth

Almost ten years ago, the Graphic Arts Collection presented some of its most valuable drawings to mark its 100th anniversary.

Today we are now showing works from the rich collection of prints. Printmaking is by no means limited to the function of a reproduction medium. The work with printing ink and the interplay of line and surface always possess autonomous qualities.

Our selection includes artists whose works literally "made an impression" on subsequent generations by setting standards in printing techniques: from Dürer to Munch to Kollwitz, from Rembrandt to Goya to Roth. In addition, all formats from XS to XL will be represented in this "tour d'horizon". We are deliberately avoiding a hierarchy of works based on their size. Because the fact is: It is not uncommon for the charm of a print to only be revealed by looking at every detail, no matter how small.
