Surrounded by no fewer than 29 peaks above 4,000 meters, such as the majestic Matterhorn and the Dufourspitze as well as the third-longest glacier of the Alps, Gornergrat rewards visitors with unparalleled views.
Gornergrat is one of the most popular destinations near Zermatt. The adventure begins with the ride on the Gornergrat Railway which offers magnificent views of the Matterhorn. The panoramic views from the top are breathtaking: mountains and glaciers as far as the eye can see. Surrounded by more than two dozen four-thousand-metre peaks – including the Matterhorn, the imposing Dufourspitze and the Dom – and several glaciers, Gornergrat rewards with an unforgettable panorama.
In summer, marvel at the reflection of the Matterhorn in the surface of the Riffelsee and enjoy scenic hiking trails to the Alpine Garden or the famous Valais Blacknose Sheep. In winter, the beautiful tobogganing route from Rotenboden to Riffelberg is just one of the experiences on offer. Together with sunny ski slopes, snowshoe and hiking trails Gornergrat is sure to delight both young and old. The Gornergrat is also home to the multimedia experience “ZOOOM the Matterhorn”, the “Golden Spot” photo point, and a viewing platform, which can be visited all year round.
