Intro
With its collection of 150,000 items in some 80 languages, the Martin Bodmer Foundation is among the largest private libraries in the world.
The Martin Bodmer Foundation’s permanent collection comprises a collection of hundreds of western and oriental manuscripts, 270 incunabula (printed before 1500), including one of the few copies of the Gutenberg Bible. The collection also includes cuneiform tablets, Greek and Coptic papyri, as well as testimonies of ancient civilizations and even a number of minerals and fossils.
This temple of modern architecture, designed by Mario Botta, testifies to five millennia of human creativity and to those around the world who contributed to the greatest intellectual and spiritual progress of humanity.
