This is the Blausee
The Blausee is located in the southwest of Switzerland in the
Kandertal Region of the
Bernese Oberland. It is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in Switzerland and is a top destination thanks to its crystal-clear water and the surrounding nature park.
Discover the Blausee
Imagine you are walking a short distance through a dense forest, and suddenly, there is a lake so indescribably beautiful in front of you that you think you are dreaming. The water is deep blue and crystal clear: Tree trunks, rocks and a mysterious stone sculpture at the bottom of the lake seem to be lying just below the surface of the water. On winter days, the contrast to the white snow is simply magical.
Activities at the Blausee
The entrance fee to the Blausee includes several offers: The picnic areas and barbecue areas, the natural playground for children and a visit to the organic trout farm with the natural ponds. You can try a taste of the trout in the summer café or in the lakeside restaurant. In summer, a ride in the glass-bottom rowing boat is also included in the entrance fee. However, only the trout are allowed to swim in the lake. With a diving certificate, you can dive in the Blausee lake between November and March – a mystical experience.
The nature park at the Blausee
The Blausee is considered a place of power. Since the entire nature park is free of traffic, you can relax wonderfully here. The lakeside path with a wooden bridge and platform out onto the lake is absolutely picturesque. Almost as beautiful are the walking paths through the 20-hectare forest with gnarled trees and moss-covered rocks. The lake itself and the fairytale landscape were created 15,000 years ago by a rockslide.
Around the Blausee
In the Kandertal Region lies a second top excursion destination: the
Lake Oeschinen above
Kandersteg. The natural scenery with the mountain massif, the waterfalls, and the turquoise blue lake is unique. Opposite on the Allmenalp you can climb through one of the most spectacular
via ferratas in Switzerland. And in winter, the region around Kandersteg turns into a cross-country skiing paradise.
Experience the Blausee for less
Buses run from Frutigen and Kandersteg to the Blausee stop. With the
Berner Oberland Pass, travel is free and the entrance fee to the lake is discounted. Should you visit the Blausee on your birthday, you will enjoy free admission.
