Grimentz is located in the southwest of Switzerland, in the
Valais. Tucked away at the end of the
Val d’Anniviers (also known as the Eifischtal), the village is a popular destination for hikers, winter sports enthusiasts, and mountaineers alike.

Take your time to stroll through the old village centre, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful in Switzerland. Cobblestone lanes are lined with houses, barns, and granaries made of sun-darkened timber. In summer, colourful geraniums decorate windows and balconies, giving the village its iconic look. Visit the historic mill, the “Maison de Grand-Maman,” or sample glacier wine in the old town hall. Around the gondola station, you’ll find numerous restaurants, cafés, and shops.
The Grimentz-Zinal Ski Area
Grimentz is a beloved destination for all types of winter sports. Whether skiing, snowboarding, sledding, or ski touring – beginner or pro – the vast Grimentz–Zinal ski area is a true alpine paradise, thanks to its high elevation. Speaking of heights: a futuristic glass gondola whisks you from Grimentz up to Espace Weisshorn at 2,700 metres above sea level.
Hike Around the Moiry Lake
The
Val d’Anniviers offers over a hundred kilometres of hiking trails. A true
classic route takes you around the Moiry Reservoir at 2,500 metres above sea level. The hike begins at the imposing 150-metre-high dam wall. Along this varied trail, you’ll admire the lake’s emerald-green water from every angle. At the far end of the valley, the Moiry Glacier feeds the reservoir with meltwater.

In nearby
St-Luc, a funicular on stilts takes you up to Alp Tignousa, where you can enjoy a gentle walk along the
Planet Trail or continue on a more challenging hike to the 3,000-metre-high
Bella Tola. You’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of a crown of peaks – from the
Matterhorn to the Weisshorn, Zinalrothorn, and Dent Blanche. Or explore the old copper mine in the mountaineering village of
Zinal and set off from there on a guided tour.
