Intro

Medieval fencing, wild boar skewers, horse-drawn carriage rides and blacksmiths at work: a festive, family-friendly closing day.

Medieval fencing, spit-roasted wild boar, horse-drawn carriage rides and blacksmiths at work: a festive, family-friendly closing day. In partnership with UAPE Chalet Sylvana, come and discover the families' exhibition on the Château de Morges too.

Closing Day of the Été culturel – 10am–5pm

After three months of shows, concerts and coded messages, the Été culturel 2026 comes to a close. For its final day, the Château de Morges throws open its gardens, its main courtyard and its rampart walk for a celebration where you can just as easily build a sand fortress as cross swords, ride in a carriage as follow the trail of a vanished princess. This day is organised in collaboration with UAPE Chalet Sylvana.

In the gardens

10am–5pm – Several stands to explore throughout the day: chainmail, costumes, games and objects from times past, all there to be handled. Here, nothing sits behind glass: you lift it, put it on, try it out, set it down. A simple way to feel the real weight of a suit of armour and just how much it slows down the person wearing it.

10am–5pm – Exhibition on the Château de Morges, from yesterday to tomorrow, created by the children of UAPE Chalet Sylvana.

10.30am–12pm and 1pm–3pm – Carriage rides. Two sessions during the day to tour the Château at a pre-engine pace and see the building from a fresh angle.

From 12pm – The spit roast. Cooking starts early in the morning, ready to serve at midday in the gardens.

2pm–5pm – Ripopée médiévale. Live medieval music to accompany the afternoon, with instruments and repertoires you don't hear every day.

3pm–5pm – The play. The late-afternoon performance brings the day to a close — and with it, the Été culturel 2026.

The workshops

Three slots during the day — 10–11am, 1–2pm and 4–5pm — for workshops of around 30 minutes, opening according to age group. Everyone can take part in several over the course of the day, or come back for more.

Sand castle, on the rampart walk, ages 4–6. Dive into the story of medieval fortified castles while exploring the rampart walk of the Château de Morges.

Real castle life, in the gardens, ages 7–12. What people ate, how they slept, who did what: everyday life in the Middle Ages.

Fencing, in the main courtyard, ages 12–16. A supervised introduction to the moves, the footwork and the rules.

Inside the Château, 10am–5pm

Discover our temporary exhibition "Top Secret – Espionage and Resistance in Switzerland and Europe, 1939–1945". It's a chance to explore this exhibition devoted to clandestine networks, encrypted messages and those who, between 1939 and 1945, chose not to stay silent.

"Mina the Falcon tells…" is an investigation game about the history of the Château. Mina invites you to become a detective and set off to uncover the secrets these old stones have held for centuries: a mysterious princess lived here long ago, and the task is to follow her trail into every corner of the building. Ages 8 and up, or accompanied; 45 minutes to 1 hour. The game is by Fedora Games and was devised with the children of UAPE Chalet Sylvana, who helped create the puzzles and clues.

Two investigations, two eras, one building: Mina's reaches back to the Middle Ages, Top Secret's ends in 1945. Just climb the stairs to take on both.

For all audiences

Activities and entry to the Château are free, with the option to make a donation to the Friends of the Château de Morges Association (Association des Amis du Château de Morges).
