Overview
Intro
In September each year, Zurich turns itself into a movie capital for eleven days, presenting public premieres of new films in the presence of famous actors and directors.
Every autumn since 2005, the Zurich Film Festival has presented a varied programme for cinema enthusiasts: upcoming filmmakers compete for the coveted “Golden Eye” award in three international competitions. In the “Focus” category, the festival places special emphasis on filmmaking in Switzerland, Germany and Austria.
Besides the competitions, the festival also presents the most anticipated blockbusters as well as interesting discoveries in various sideshows. Film screenings in the presence of the filmmakers and public panel discussions bring the public closer to the stars and young moviemakers.
